Create entirely new visions of learning, that are better suited to the increasing complexity, connectivity, and velocity of our evolving knowledge society.
The Peeristics scans across all linked applications and systems to generate search results for your profile. More than simply identifying resources, Peeristics will develop a context model for each resource searched, providing information about where the source came from, how it has been used, what other resources it has been used with, and the curriculum standards it’s aligned to. Additionally, Peeristics will tailor search results based on user, so the right resources are presented already filtered. For example, a search for “How do birds fly?” will result in different resources for a Grade 11 physics teacher than it would for a Grade 3 science teacher.
Peeristics’ architecture is designed to be data-centric and focuses on collecting and tracking granular data from user interactions (teachers, students, curriculum designers) to provide previously unattainable data and analysis in the education lifecycle. Work-products are ‘decomposed’ into a knowledge-rich and granular dataset, which is then analyzed by our analytical engine that builds relationships and knowledge. Peeristics extracts actionable knowledge from your interactions through full text search, handling synonyms, and scoring documents by relevance. This is done in real time without big batch-processing jobs. Each unit becomes a visualization of the intersection between the curriculum and the ways it was used. Students get actionable data to own their own learning process. For every learning moment, they can access their own progress data visualized clearly in order to make evidence based decisions with regards to their own learning.
Peeristics built-in alignment tool ensures educator's material meets curriculum standards. Peeristics allows users to easily align any resource regardless of its source to their curriculum standards. Users can also input their own customizable curriculum standards. Additionally, Peeristics provides alignment recommendations for unaligned resources, which helps educators understand more about a resource and determine whether it meets curriculum standards.
Peeristics focuses on teacher adoption to ensure that the program will gain the traction it needs to ultimately further provincial curriculum development goals. It's ease of use provides tangible benefits to a teacher’s day-to-day lessons and their long-term unit and course planning. These tools are designed to deliver more value as the teacher works through the Ministry’s standards-based curriculum. The result is an education eco-system that can harvest more–and higher quality–information about teachers’ learning material and student interaction with the material, and can become an essential aid in directing Ministry Curriculum Design activities.
Peeristics Core reinforces a model of learning that is the product of the students and teachers actively producing, creating, experimenting and designing because it promotes skills and dispositions for lifelong learning, and for making meaningful contributions to today's rapidly changing work and social conditions. This is achieved through the the integration of open source technologies that evolve in pace with the technologies that drive the internet. Learning is not only a transaction between students and content, but a much more human and social experience involving teachers, peers, and other mentors. There is wide agreement that the challenge we face as educators is to create entirely new visions of learning, better suited to the increasing complexity, connectivity, and velocity of our evolving knowledge society.
Diversity is an important aspect of education theory which is continually developing. Each teacher decides for themselves what new technologies meet the new demands of a quickly changing culture. Peeristics Core allows for the integration of a number of different strategies of teaching in one integrated framework.
